Mobility problems and general ill health can make skin problems worse.

What can I do to reduce this damage?

Soon as possible after any accident remove dirty clothing and pads, change bedding if necessary.
Wash often using PH balanced products
Dont rub dry gently pat the skin with a soft dry cloth or dry wipe.
Moisturise with PH balanced products if skin if feeling dry.
Barrier creams can help protect the skin. and keep them moist.

What cleansing products should I use?

You should use products that have been designed to cleanse the skin without causing dryness; they are available in many different types including none aerosols, creams and wipes. Do not use soap and baby wipes, as they often contain soaps and perfumes, these can upset the natural pH balance (acidity) of your skin. If you use soap, use an unscented, vegetable or glycerine variety.

What should I use to wash with?

Cotton cloths or disposable wipes are best, other fabrics like flannel or sponges can be too harsh on delicate skin. It's very important to wash cloths thoroughly clean using a non-biological washing powder and store seperately.
